Cyber Defence Officer at the NATO International Staff

Laura Brent has held cyber policy roles in both the public and private sectors, addressing complex strategy, policy, and operational challenges in varied environments.

Ms. Brent currently serves on the NATO International Staff, which provides advice, guidance, and support to the national delegations and decision-making processes of the Alliance. As a cyber defence officer, Ms. Brent is responsible for developing and implementing cyber policy on behalf of the Alliance.

Previously, at Ernst & Young, Ms. Brent conducted cybercrime investigations and assessed clients’ cybersecurity programs and maturity. Prior to Ernst & Young, Ms. Brent served at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, advising senior leaders on a broad range of national and homeland security issues including cybersecurity and critical infrastructure protection.

Ms. Brent holds a B.A. from Harvard College and an M.A. from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.
